Catastrophic floods wreak havoc with residential structures. There are health and safety issues as well as damage that has to be addressed in the aftermath of floods. Some of these involve electrical, plumbing, pests, disease and structural issues. It may take some time for the insurance industry to get involved with restoring your home, so in the interim, you should know what will need to be done to restore a healthy and livable environment for you and your family.
There is a helpful e-book published by the National Center for Healthy Housing called “Creating
a Healthy Home: a Field Guide for Cleanup of Flooded Homes.”
You might not want to save this to your hard drive because floods are not conducive to the
health of your computer. You can upload this link or the e-book to a service like iCloud or Dropbox.
Consider some prudent advice. A wise man thinks ahead; a fool doesn’t, and even brags about it!
